rt 30 		finally, the rain has subsided. bright sunny morning in boston, but by the time i was ready to depart in the early afternoon, the clouds had covered the sun once again. no matter, no rain. windy. finally settled into a riding rhythm in connecticut. and then the sun. great first day. sundown on i-80 and a thorough chill. hanging in ligonier until wednesday 23 may 2007.

hwy-627 		the weather made for an amazing riding day. i-79 through west virginia was fantastic... great seeing other bikers. the wave makes me feel like a comrade. camped at fort boonesboro... i don't really understand the rv style of camping. should get some photos. headed to memphis tomorrow. practiced banjo. 9:30pm; dark out with many mosquitos... not much else to do besides go to sleep.

hwy-207 		never quite hit a good riding thythm. lots of wind. lost my keys. bought some lotion to keep away the bandito. met a nice guy while getting gas... he'd lived in japan and germany... rode all over europe. he hated his current location and was cursing a blue streak. i think he could have gone on for hours talking about biking. i asked 'do you still ride?' and he showed me his tattoo. saw abe lincoln's boyhood home and met a man from mississippi whose son was returning from school in vermont... he'd hadn't seen him since september. taking the scenic route. camping area at fort pillow was a bit sketchy until i met robert and james from mississippi who came over to listen to my banjo. justice has been a monster.

hwy-71 		awesome day. so smooth and straight. cranked justice up to 6k rpm... humming along at about 75mph. met up with dianna in conway, ar... she bought me lunch... thanks so much! had some problems finding the right camping area... the police helped me out... only $11. will make it to austin tomorrow. killer. keeep thinking camping would be so cool with a big crew.
